Shuang Yue Food (雙月食品社), Serving the Fresh and Fantastic Clam Chicken Soup in Taipei, Taiwan!


At noon of May 1, 2020, my friends and I had lunch together. The restaurant we visited that day was Shuang Yue Food (雙葉食品社) near MRT Shandao Temple Station, Taipei, Taiwan.


Shuang Yue Food (雙月食品社) was very popular with people in Taipei. Here were so many customers queueing before it opened at 11:00!


During the waiting period outdoors, we took a careful look at its menu!


Shuang Yue Food (雙月食品社) was also recommended by Michelin Bib Gourmand!


Its signature was the chicken soup. The various braised dishes (滷味) and glutinous oil rice (油飯) were also great!


We ordered 2 bowls of clam chicken soup and 1 bowl of milkfish soup. The price of soup was both 170 TWD (= 5.66 USD) per bowl. We also ordered 3 bowls of glutinous oil rice (油飯) at 35 TWD (= 1.17 USD) each. The dishes we ordered were the following:
Braised milkfish belly at 90 TWD (= 3 USD) per dish
Assorted braised food platter at 190 TWD (= 6.33 USD)
Turnip cakes at 50 TWD (= 1.67 USD) per dish


After placing our order, we had our seats near the entrance.


We could see so many seats still available because we visited here earlier. Soon the seats here were all occupied!


Soon, our meals were all served!


At first, we'd like to try the turnip cakes here. The turnip cakes smelled good and looked crispy. Its texture was so fluffy. It was a very nice dish!


One of us ordered the clam milkfish soup. We saw the soup topped with the large milkfish belly and many clams.


Here were some large chunks of chicken and many clams in my clam chicken soup. The chicken tasted fresh and mild. The cabbage in the soup made the chicken soup slightly sweet! It was obviously Shuang Yue Food's signature!


The braised milkfish belly was tender and flavorful. After deboning process, it was convenient to enjoy the milkfish belly!


Next, I'd like to the glutinous oil rice (油飯). Ever customers could only 2 bowls of glutinous oil rice (油飯) at most. The texture of rice was al dente! The glutinous oil rice (油飯) tasted so great with the aroma of lard and shiitake mushrooms! Personally speaking, I strongly recommended the glutinous oil rice (油飯) here. I ordered an additional bowl of glutinous oil rice (油飯) after I finished my 1st bowl!


Because we ordered so many braised foods, they were contained in 2 dishes.


One of the dishes consisted of blood rice cakes (米血), bean curd (花干) and pork jowl (嘴邊肉).


The bean curd (花干) and blood rice cakes (米血) absorbed the braising sauce well with the aroma of medicine herbs. I couldn't help but enjoy them with the thick soy sauce and shredded gingers one bite after another.


The pork jowl (嘴邊肉) was also quite fresh and tasty!


The other dish consisted of tofu (百頁豆腐) and pork intestine (粉腸).


The tofu absorbed the braising sauce very well. Its texture was a little springy. The pork intestine was not game at all. Its texture was al dente, too! They were both so tasty!


One of my friends arrived here later, so we ordered some extra glutinous oil rice (油飯) and braised food.


The chicken heart tasted not game with the aroma of medicine herbs. The tofu skin also absorbed the braising sauce very well!


After we finished our food, the seats here were all occupied. The queueing line was so long outside the restaurant! Shuang Yue Food (雙月食品社) was so popular with customers!


The quality of foods was very high at Shuang Yue Food (雙月食品社). I loved its fresh chicken soup and good-smelling glutinous oil rice (油飯) so much! Moreover, the foods braised with some medicine herbs were too good to forget! Without doubt, Shuang Yue Food (雙月食品社) was worth Michelin Bib Gourmand's recommeadation!
