Sep. 28, 2020 was the 6th day of the journey when my friend and I travelled around Taiwan. That afternoon we arrived in Yuli, Hualien. That evening we visited Yuli's super popular eatery, Yuli Tofu (玉里橋頭臭豆腐), for dinner!
After we got our number ticket, we planned to separately order a large dish of stinky tofu (臭豆腐) at 90 TWD (= 3.15 USD).
After we placed our order, we had our seats!
Although here were so many customers, the table turnover rate was also very high! Therefore we didn't waste too much time queueing!
After the above, we just patiently waited for our stinky tofu!
The freshly fried stinky tofu had the unique and obvious aroma of oil and fermented food!
The skin of stinky tofu was super crispy! Its speciality was pretty vivid!
The inside of stinky tofu was still fluffy and juicy!
The freshly fried stinky tofu tasted less oily with the fresh and sweet Taiwanese kimchi, shredded radish and basil!
Customers who loved spicy food could add more chili sauce onto the stinky tofu! But, the chili sauce was very hot and spicy!
Yuli Tofu (玉里橋頭臭豆腐) strongly highlights the feature of deep fried stinky tofu. Especially its texture is super crispy outside but pretty fluffy inside. Personally speaking, Yuli Tofu (玉里橋頭臭豆腐) is the gourmet food you shouldn't miss out when visiting Yuli, Hualien, Taiwan!
