Wang's Broth (小王煮瓜), Serving the Fantastic Braised Pork Rice with Mushroom (香菇滷肉飯) Recommended by Michelin Bib Gourmand in Taipei, Taiwan!

In the evening of Jun. 8, 2020, I visited Wang's Broth (小王煮瓜) for dinner after it finished raining in Taipei, Taiwan.

Wang's Broth (小王煮瓜) was located at Huaxi Street Night Market, Taipei. It had been established since 1975.

Wang's Broth (小王煮瓜) started from the food booth on the street. And then it became more and more popular! Nowadays, it's a very famous restaurant!

Wang's Broth (小王煮瓜) even won Michelin Bib Gourmand's recommendation in 2019.

Here were the nostalgic outdoor seats at Wang's Broth (小王煮瓜).

Here were also the comfortable and spacious indoor seats at Wang's Broth (小王煮瓜)!

The kitchen here was an open kitchen. The environment here was cleaner and more comfortable than the common braised pork rice restaurants in Taiwan.

I only ordered a bowl of braised pork rice with mushroom (香菇滷肉飯) at 66 TWD (= 2.23 USD) and a bowl of steamed minced pork with pickles in broth (清湯瓜仔肉) at 66 TWD (= 2.23 USD).

Soon my meals were served!

The braised pork rice with mushroom (香菇滷肉飯) looked quite mouth-watering. It also smelled so great, and the sliced mushrooms looked so many!

The braised pork was slightly sticky due to the collagen. The texture was just like melting in my mouth. The ratio of lean and fat pork was really golden!

The springy sliced mushrooms had rich mushroom aroma. The rice was also slightly al dente. I was really satisfied with the braised pork rice with mushroom (香菇滷肉飯) here!

The steamed minced pork with pickles in broth (清湯瓜仔肉) looked dark brown and quite salty.

But actually, the saltiness of soup was good for me. Even with some white pepper powder, the soup became more flavorful and milder!

My favorite was the pork dumplings in the steamed minced pork with pickles in broth (清湯瓜仔肉). The pork dumplings mainly consisted thick, firm and springy pork chops. They were different from the common pork dumplings mainly made up of the surimi and starch.

Besides the soup and pork dumplings, there were some crispy pickled cucumbers!

Because I visited here later, it was almost the closed time after I finished my dinner. The unoccupied seats became more and more then. Wang's Broth (小王煮瓜) was so popular with customers!

Although the signatures of Wang's Broth (小王煮瓜), braised pork rice with mushroom (香菇滷肉飯) and steamed minced pork with pickles in broth (清湯瓜仔肉), are more expensive than the common braised pork rice restaurants in Taiwan, I think the foods here were not only tasty but also high-quality with abundant ingredients. Additionally, the environment is cleaner and cooler than the common braised pork rice restaurants in Taiwan.

For me, Wang's Broth (小王煮瓜) is still worth visiting!
