Nigatsuhan Soba (二月半そば), Serving the Fresh and Tasty Cold Duck Soba Noodles in Taipei, Taiwan!

In the evening of May 30, 2020, I headed to MRT Zhongshan Station, Taipei, Taiwan, and then my friends and I walked to Nigatsuhan Soba (二月半そば) nearby for dinner.

Nigatsuhan Soba (二月半そば) was very popular with customers. Here were some customers queueing before its opening time, 17:30.

We saw many customers' name on the waiting list at the entrance.

Luckily, we had already reserved our seats, so we could directly have our seats after we all get here!

I saw the various sake and buckwheat tea after entering Nigatsuhan Soba (二月半そば).

The environment here was comfortable and not too crowded.

We enjoyed the buckwheat served by the servant and took a look at its menu after we had our seats.

Here were 3 ways to enjoy the soba, noodles with dipping sauce, cold noodle soup and noodle soup.

My friends ordered the shrimp tempura soba noodles at 300 TWD (= 10.11 USD) per set.

I ordered a season-limited set of cold duck soba noodle soup (冷鴨南蠻蕎麥麵) at 280 TWD (= 9.43 USD).

Moreover, we ordered 2 appetizers to shared with each other. They were the soft and fluffy Japanese omelette (ふわふわ玉子焼き),150 TWD (= 5.05 USD) and yellowtail sashimi (ブリ刺身) at 180 TWD (= 6.06 USD).

The fringe of yellowtail sashimi (ブリ刺身) was grilled with the flame. Its seasonings were the wasabi, gingers, red onions, scallions and alfalfa sprouts. We were all looking forward to the yellowtail sashimi (ブリ刺身)!

The grilled yellowtail sashimi (ブリ刺身) smelled better and looked tastier. With some red onions, soy sauce and wasabi, the yellowtail sashimi tasted not only fresh but also amazing!

The soft and fluffy Japanese omelette (ふわふわ玉子焼き) looked quite golden and delicious with the smashed radish.

The Japanese omelette was really fluffy and soft! With some smashed radish, it was too heavenly to forget for us!

The hot shrimp tempura dishes ordered by my friends looked quite abundant and golden!

The shrimp tempura dish consisted of shrimp, jack mackerel and vegetable tempura.

My main course, cold duck soba noodle soup (冷鴨南蠻蕎麥麵) was contained in a large dish with various toppings!

The toppings were kombu, alfalfa sprouts, nori and so on.

The soba noodles was directly soaked in the cold duck soup. The cold soba noodles was slightly soft but springy. It absorbed the the salty and sweet cold duck soup well. I couldn't help but enjoy the soba noodles one bite after another.

The duck was hot, tender and good-smelling!

The soba noodles were topped with some mushrooms and smashed Chinese yam. Mixing them into the cold duck soup made the whole set more fantastic!

We had a quite satisfying experience at Nigatsuhan Soba (二月半そば)! Not only the main courses were scrumptious, but also the side dishes were appetizing!

Moreover, the service here was full of enthusiasm! The servants here often refilled our tea, so we drank much of tasty buckwheat tea. Thus, I thought the 10% service charge was reasonable. The only disadvantage of Nigatsuhan Soba (二月半そば) was cash only. Any credit cards were not accepted!
