Hometown Dumplings (家鄉味水餃), Serving Shepherd's Purse Dumplings (薺菜水餃), the Rare Gourmet Food in Taipei, Taiwan!

In the afternoon of Jun. 23, 2020, my friend and I rode the public bikes together in Taipei, Taiwan. That evening we rode to MRT Shuanglian Station (捷運雙連站) to have dinner at Hometown Dumplings (家鄉味水餃).

Hometown Dumplings (家鄉味水餃) served shepherd's purse dumplings (薺菜水餃). Shepherd's purse dumplings (薺菜水餃) were really rare in Taiwan!

We ordered a dish of shepherd's purse dumplings (薺菜水餃) respectively. The price was 60 TWD (= 1.01 USD) per dish.

Besides the dumplings, here were some side dishes like the pig scalp (豬頭皮) and black fungus (黑木耳). The price of side dish was 25 TWD (= 0.85 USD) per dish. Moreover, here was also black fungus soup (木耳湯) at 30 TWD (= 1.01 USD) per bowl. But it was really too hot, so we only ordered the dumplings!

Hometown Dumplings (家鄉味水餃) was not spacious. The environment here looked slightly crowded but still quite clean!

Here was a poster about the introduction about shepherd's purse (薺菜). We could read how it could be cooked or do our health good!

Our fresh-made shepherd's purse dumplings (薺菜水餃) were served very soon!

The dumplings looked quite green due to the stuffing. The stuffing seemed full of minced shepherd's purse.

At first, I'd like to try its original flavor. The dumpling had the thin aroma of vegetables. The aroma was so soft that I couldn't dislike it. With some good-smelling pork, the dumplings tasted perfect!

The soy sauce or vinegar made the stuffing even more fresher and sweeter!

Moreover, the chili sauce here was not only spicy but also numbing. Personally speaking, people who loved spicy and numbing food shouldn't miss it out!

But the dipping sauce was quite spicy and numbing, so I thought customers had better try its original flavor, soy sauce flavor and vinegar flavor. After try above flavor, I started to try the shepherd's purse dumplings (薺菜水餃) with the chili sauce!

Personally speaking, the shepherd's purse dumplings (薺菜水餃) were also great with the chili sauce, but the flavor of dipping sauce was much stronger than the dumplings. The sauce was nice for chili lovers!

Shepherd's purse dumplings (薺菜水餃) are not common in Taiwan, so I think Hometown Dumplings (家鄉味水餃 is absolutely worth visiting, especially for the unique and tasty shepherd's purse dumplings (薺菜水餃)!
