Whole Chou Noodle Restaurant (虎笑麵屋), Serving the Fresh & Tasty Beef Soup and Numbing & Spicy Dry Noodles in Taipei, Taiwan!
In the evening of May 23, 2020, my friends and I headed to Whole Chou Noodle Restaurant (虎笑麵屋) for dinner in Taipei, Taiwan! The nearest MRT station was MRT Nanjing Sanmin Station.
We could soon have our seats because here was no one queueing when we arrived.
The environment here was spacious and comfortable. It was not crowded at all!
The options on the menu were not many. Here were 3 kinds of main course and various side dishes.
I ordered the freshly-cut beef set (香麻溫體牛套餐) at 250 TWD (= 8.32 USD). The set consisted of a bowl of tiger noodles (老虎麵), a bowl of fresh beef soup (溫體牛肉湯), half soft-boiled egg and a cup of black tea.
The sauce area was under the menu blackboard. Here were some sauces like chili oil.
Besides the set, we ordered 2 side dishes, duck blood & tofu (鴨血豆腐) and numbing & spicy pig's blood rice cakes (麻辣米血糕)
The duck blood & tofu (鴨血豆腐) cost us 100 TWD (= 3.33 USD). The tofu absorbed the beef broth and numbing species very well. This side dish was very appetizing!
Numbing & spicy pig's blood rice cakes (麻辣米血糕) cost us 60 TWD (= 2 USD). Pig's blood rice cakes here absorbed the numbing and spicy soup well. With the peanut powder and sticky soy sauce, the blood rice cakes was too hard to resist. We all enjoyed them one bite after another!
Next, I tried the freshly-cut beef set (香麻溫體牛套餐). Customers here could customize the spiciness of tiger noodles (老虎麵) and beef soup (牛肉湯). I'd like my noodles slightly spicy and soup non-spicy.
The side dishes included in the set were the half soft-boiled egg and sliced cucumber.
After our sets were served, the servant suggested we have the sliced fresh beef before it become well-done.
The beef was freshly-cut domestic beef. The Taiwanese beef tasted fresh and tender. With the hot and mild beef soup, it was so fantastic!
Next, I tried the numbing and spicy dry noodles, tiger noodles (老虎麵). The toppings on the tiger noodles was the youtiao (油條). The texture of youtiao was very crispy. The youtiao was tasty with or without the beef soup or sauce.
The noodles here were very al dente! I stirred the noodles with the numbing and spicy tiger sauce well, and then I put the noodles into my mouth with some scallions and fried shallots. Without doubt, the noodles were very scrumptious and exciting!
The beef soup could be refilled for free at Whole Chou Noodle Restaurant (虎笑麵屋)! I asked the servant to add a little chili when refilling my soup bowl. The refilled soup tasted slightly numbing and spicy! It was also very good!
Personally speaking, Whole Chou Noodle Restaurant (虎笑麵屋) is absolutely worth a try! The combination of fresh & mild beef soup and spicy & al dente tiger noodles is complementary and fantastic!
