Yufang Sichuan Restaurant (川揚郁坊小館), the Affordable and Scrumptious Chinese Restaurant in Taipei, Taiwan!


In the afternoon of Jun. 23, 2019, it rained a lot. I attended the anti-pro-China media protest on Ketagalan Boulevard, Taipei, Taiwan. After the protest, I walked to MRT Xiaonanmen Station to have dinner with my friends.

Yufang Sichuan Restaurant (川揚郁坊小館) was always popular. Customers couldn't have any seats without reservation. Here were 2 reservable times for customers, 17:00 and 19:00. That day our seats were at 17:00.

After having our seats, we prepared to place our order.

Some courses were only available for reservation. The courses we booked early were Dongpo pork, clams with embedded pork balls and tea-smoked duck.

After placing our order, we enjoyed the appetizers and waited

Soon the 1st course was served. It was the cold platter of Zhenjiang head cheese and air dry chicken.

The right was air dry chicken. Because the chicken was salted, dried and steamed, it tasted still moist enough with Sichuan pepper aroma. It was a little salty but very matched with hot rice!

The left was Zhenjiang head cheese. It was made by pickling the pork trotter with nitrate. It was so tender and not too oily. It was very special and tasty.

The next dish was steamed pork with rice powder. After steaming, the pork belly was so tender like probably melting in my mouth and less greasy than I expected.

The sauteed shrimps based on small shrimps. They were so crispy that I could enjoy them without peeling the shrimps. They tasted a little sweet. The sauteed shrimp was also a nice dish!

The reserved course, tea-smoked duck, looked so mouth-watering due to its bright deep-fried skin.

The duck chop was so crispy with tea aroma. I strongly recommended this course!

The cod batter was made by battering the fresh cod and fried.

Its skin was golden and crispy, and the cod inside was so soft! Dipped with the ketchup or pepper salt made the cod batter so perfect!

Its braised tofu was so smooth! But I'd like to its mapo tofu more.

The stirred sliced pork and dried bean curd was also tasty and matched with rice! Its sliced pork and dried bean curd both were smooth. I heard that its "cold sliced chicken & ham and dried bean curd" was so good. I'd like to try it next time!

In the middle of dinner, I couldn't help but take photos of most of dishes. They looked so various and tasted so flavorful!

The next one was also only available for reservation, Dongpo pork. Dongpo pork looked quite fatty, but it tasted not greasy at all. It was so tender like melting in my mouth! And the dongpo pork stroke a perfect equilibrium between sweet and salty tastes!

Moreover, I enjoyed the Dongpo pork with steamed buns here. The combination was so heavenly!

Besides the steamed buns, the hot rice was also a great partner with Dongpo pork!

The shrimps were so large in the scrambled eggs with shrimps dish. They were so delicious with the smooth and fluffy eggs.

The stir-fried cabbage here was so fresh and a little crispy.

And then, clams with embedded pork balls were also only available for reservation!

The course was more like a pot of soup. Its soup based on old hen broth. The soup with the umami of clams was really delicious!

The pork ball was embedded in a clam. The pork ball was so fantastic because it absorbed the tasty soup!

Our endings were the 2 dishes of red bean pancakes for dessert. The outside of red bean pancakes was so crispy, and the inside was stuffed with fine red bean paste and soft mochi. This ending was really flawless!

At last, we 10 people had the flavorful dinner at 5,330 TWD (= 171.58 USD). In other words, everyone only spent 533 TWD (= 17.16 TWD).

Additionally, we really ordered too many dishes. Therefore we took out some left dishes.

Yufang Sichuan Restaurant (川揚郁坊小館) was the affordable andscrumptious Chinese restaurant without doubt. Its only flaw was the environment due to its age.

Personally speaking, focusing on its cuisines, Yufang Sichuan Restaurant (川揚郁坊小館) is absolutely worth a try! I also suggest those guys who wanna try it book the seats earlier!
