Dounan Migao Jia(斗南 米糕 甲), the Restaurant Serving Yummy Tube Rice Puddings since 1945 in Yunlin, Taiwan

On Oct. 5, 2017, after my friend and I enjoyed the special cold noodles in Chiayi, Taiwan, we resumed our journey around Taiwan by motorbike. We kept heading to Taichung, Taiwan, our destination that day!

But human beings were not made from stainless steels, some breaks were necessary for us.

We decided to take a break at Dounan Migao Jia(斗南 米糕 甲), the famous restaurant for its tube rice puddings in Dounan, Yunlin, Taiwan.

Dounan Migao Jia(斗南 米糕 甲) had been established since 1945. 1945 was just the year of "dogs go and pigs come" between two different colonists. 1945 was also either Showa 20 or ROC 34 for Taiwanese. It's a quite historic restaurant!

The tube rice puddings here were not at high prices. One tube rice pudding only cost me 25 TWD (=0.83 USD)! Although the soup here was also not expensive, we were really full after the special cold noodles in Chiayi, Taiwan. Therefore we only ordered tube rice puddings.

Soon, our tube rice puddings were served. The toppings were really diverse. There were sliced pork, dried shrimps, crispy fried shallots and a tea spoon of mashed garlic.

The texture of rice stroke a balance, neither too firm nor sticky. Dounan Migao Jia(斗南 米糕 甲) claimed that its rice was Zhuo-Shui Rice, cultivated in Xiluo, Yunlin, Taiwan.  It tasted so good. I was really satisfied!

I used to pour the spicy sauce on the tube rice puddings. But it depended on personal preference. Both the original one and the spicy one were delicious. I thought one tube rice pudding was good for snack time in the aftermoon!
