On Oct. 5, 2017, on the way to Taichung from Tainan during our journey around Taiwan, we arrived in Downtown Chiayi roughly at 13:30. This time we decided to try another Chiayi's local speciality, cold noodles!

I heard that Gongyuan Laodian(公園 老店) Cold Noodles had been established for a long time in Chiayi, Taiwan. Its signatures were cold noodles and pork thick soup, but I didn't love pork thick soup so much. Therefore I only ordered a large plate of cold noodles. It cost me only at 50 TWD (1.66 USD).

It looked quite different from the cold noodles in any other places in Taiwan. The extra white sauce was poured on the cold noodles. In Chiayi, Taiwan, local residents called the sauce "white vinegar". In fact, the white sauce was called "mayonnaise" in any other places in Taiwan.
Moreover, the noodles were also different from the ordinary cold noodles. The noodles in Chiayi, Taiwan were wide, flat and white; while the noodles in any other cities in Taiwan were thin, round and yellow.

And the texture of wide, flat and white noodles were more al-dente than ordinary cold noodles!
I thought the original cold noodles were quite delicious. I also considered that the noodles with spicy sauce might be also good. But I finished my plate before I thought of it!
If you visit Chiayi, Taiwan, you can try not only the famous local speciality of Chiayi, turkey rice, but also the local and unique cold noodles of Chiayi at Gongyuan Laodian(公園 老店) Cold Noodles!
