(中文版:會安酒家,高樓麵與白玫瑰 (越南會安))

On Dec. 14, 2016, after my friend and I visited the flooded Hoi An, it was time for dinner! I heard that the Cao Lau noodles and white roses were the specialities in Hoi An, Vietnam. We decided to look for a restaurant selling them and stay there for our dinner and avoiding the heavy rain.

Finally we went to the restaurant,  Dac San Hoi An, for our dinner. Of course, our targets were exactly the Cao Lau noodles and white roses.

Cao Lau noodles
"Cao Lau" means tall buildings. Rumour has it that the Cao Lau noodles were sold at the restaurant in a taller building than other nearby architectures initially. The noodles became popular soon in Hoi An, Vietnam. Nowadays every restaurant in Hoi An serves the Cao Lau noodles.

I liked its chewy noodles the most! Its unique taste and texture was achieved by using water from an undisclosed ancient Cham well. The pork and fried lard made the bowl of noodles delicious. Mixing them with the vegetables and sauce made the Cao Lau noodles almost perfect!

White roses
The white rose is also a famous specialities. Rumor has it that a French reporter came to Hoi An, Vietnam in the 17th century and enjoyed the white rose. He felt that it was delicious. Its shape was like a rose, and the color of these cakes looked white. He called the dish "white rose."

The white roses also tasted good! The white roses were made from semi-transparent white dough which was filled with spiced shrimp and minced pork. Dipping the sauce on side made it unforgettable!

After we enjoyed our dinner there, we just went to the cafe in Hoi An and waited until the rain stopped. Due to the flood, we had no choices and just walked back to our hotel.
