Daruma(だるま) Genghis Khan, the Popular BBQ Lamb in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan

In the evening of Sep. 6, 2016, after my university classmates and I visited Sapporo Beer Museum in Hokkaido, Japan, we went to Susukino, Downtown Sapporo, for dinner!

In fact, we initially went to Tanukikoji Shopping Arcade for Garaku's famous soup curry. But when we arrived there, the soup curry was sold out! We changed our mind! We went to famous Daruma(だるま) Genghis Khan for its delicious Hokkaido-styled BBQ lamb!

Daruma(だるま) Genghis Khan was a very popular restaurant. There were lots of people lining up in front of its main store and branches.

Eventually we chose Daruma(だるま) Genghis Khan 6.4 Shop. Although it looked less crowded, it still took us 2 hours to queue!

Finally it was our turn! At first, we ordered the lamb and vegetables. We put the lamb fat on the grill plate and waited for melting. And then we put the onion and green onion on the plate.

After those, we started to grill the lamb. We couldn't help but drool over the BBQ lamb when smelling its aroma!

I couldn't have the BBQ without the draft beer! Soon I ordered one additional jug of draft beer!

I tucked in the grilled lamb on the hot Japanese rice with its special sauce and a little brown onion and green onion. And then I drank the draft beer like a fish! C'est la vie!

Although we had a wonderful dinner here, the basic lamb (4 slices/dish) cost us JPY 785(USD 7.1) per dish. The price was higher, but it was still really popular. And most of the guys who queued in front of Daruma Genghis Khan seemed local residents!

Although the prices at Daruma Genghis Khan are higher, I think it's still the slightly luxurious enjoyment you shouldn't miss when visiting Hokkaido, Japan!
